Hey everyone! I took last Sunday off for Easter, but this week I’m picking up shortly after my last #sixsunday. I’m currently querying this story (the name keeps changing, ugh. Surrender? Shrapnel?). Dylan–a teen with psychic abilities–has just broken the rules by going outside at night, where she hears someone calling her name.
Despite the shadows, I know a slow smile of approval spreads across his face and it makes my breathing ragged. I see him with my eyes, but also in my head. I can’t look away. I can’t shut him out. I can’t even move or speak.
“Dylanie,” he drawls, “let me in.”
I’d love to know your reaction! As always, thanks for stopping by and please be sure to check out some of the other Six Sunday participants. Some of my favorites are Angela Quarles and J.M. Blackman.
Wonderful emotive six!
Thanks!
Nice six 🙂 Missed these.

Oh, who is calling her name! I can’t wait to find out. This, and the previous, are very atmospheric and spooky. I love. Great six!
I love this character. Looking forward to introducing him. 🙂
Your six gave me shivers! Nicely done.
Aw, shucks. Thanks!
Oooh, wondering if this is friend or charming foe. Intriguing.
Could be both?
Gave me the shivers too Stephanie! Well done!!
Thanks, hon!
Wonderfully intriguing six! Pulled me right in!
Still loving this, Stephanie. How foreboding! I’m sure she wants to know more just as much as she wants to run. I love that opposition. Can’t wait for next week!
And thank you so much for the mention! You’re one of my favorites, too! ❤
My knowledge of fairytales suggests that letting him in might be a terrible idea. 🙂 Bet she does though.
This isn’t a fairy tale, but yes, we can learn a lot from them. 😉
Oh! I’m not sure that’d be a good idea… Intriguing 6!
Oh! That’s a great six!
Good stuff. You really get across how captivated she is. Great Six!
Intriguing… I like that he has a pet name for her, it raises even more questions.
Actually, her full name is Dylanie (pronounced like Delanie) but she goes by Dylan — she’s a little gruff and the more masculine nickname reflects it. 🙂 But good eye! I’m glad you noticed there was a difference.
