Happy Sunday, Sixers! Can you believe it’s nearly Halloween already?
This week I bring you another six from SHRAPNEL, my upper-YA paranormal/historical fiction/soft horror mutt that will be published in January by Evernight Teen.
In honor of the holiday, here’s a little “ick” for you from Ashley’s POV. Jackson, a spirit, is terrorizing Jake, a teen empath:
Jackson flicks his middle finger and thumb, like he’s shooting a paper wad across the room. Jake’s hands fly to his face. Jackson repeats the motion several times and Jake winces with each one.
I pull his hands away and drops of blood emerge from tiny punctures on his cheeks.
“Tears for the crybaby,” Jackson says.
“Shut up—”
Jake’s pissed. Hope he doesn’t get hurt any further.
As you can see to the left, the cover reveal for SHRAPNEL will be coming soon. The finished product is hawt! SHRAPNEL also has a Goodreads page so feel free to add it to your TBR list. *bats eyelashes*
Have a great week, a safe holiday and be sure to check out some of the other Six Sentence Sunday participants.
Poor Jake! This is one of the scenes that made me wish Jackson could meet an other-worldly version of Zombie Girl. 😉
Oh my, something tells me Jake’s going to snap soon! Congrats on the contract, Stef! Welcome to the Evernight family. 🙂
Wow, that’s quite ugly for mere bullying. Then, again, you did say terrorizing. It’s really interesting to see your main love interest behave so. You’re not scared to make them bad people and that’s awesome. Great snippet.
Aww, what happened to the sexy dude who was flirting with Dylanie? I liked him better! Your cover looks pretty good, actually, but looking forward to seeing what Evernight Teen comes up with. 🙂
